HSPRD negotiates City of Chicago policy protecting homeless persons

HSPRD attorneys Matthew Piers and Claudia Flores, along with the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, and the Law Project of the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, represented City of Chicago homeless residents who had their personal property taken and destroyed by the City during street cleanings.  In addition to obtaining a settlement for the 16 claimants who lost property, HSPRD, the Lawyer’s Committee and the Chicago Coalition negotiated with the City to develop a new City of Chicago policy that provides protections for the property of homeless persons.  Details about the policy can be found here: New city policy provides greater protection and services for homeless people living on Chicago’s str…
