Experience: Mr. Behar represents both plaintiffs and defendants in all areas of the employment discrimination laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Equal Pay Act. He has successfully tried numerous cases concerning issues of sexual harassment, disability discrimination, national origin discrimination and retaliation both in federal courts and before administrative agencies. Mr. Behar also has extensive experience in areas concerning educational equity and access. He is counsel to Community Consolidated School District 15, the third largest elementary school district in Illinois, and former counsel to the Chicago Teachers Union, the third largest teachers' union in the United States. |
| Honors, Education, and Activities: Mr. Behar lectures frequently at the Technical Assistance Programs of the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as well as before various bar groups and private organizations throughout the country. He has appeared on both television and radio to discuss developments in employment discrimination law. Before joining the firm, Mr. Behar was a Supervisory Trial Attorney with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where he was a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Performance Award. Mr. Behar is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Law, J.D. 1990, and a graduate of the University of Michigan, A.B. (with distinction) 1987. He is licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, all federal district courts in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. Mr. Behar speaks Spanish fluently. |
