| Experience: Ms. Jacobs joined the firm in January 2001. She defends physicians, hospitals, and other providers of health care in medical negligence lawsuits. She also litigates insurance coverage matters. She was admitted to the bar, Illinois in 1983 and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois in 1983. Bernice Jacobs is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. Ms. Jacobs has engaged extensively in both insurance defense litigation and plaintiff's personal injury litigation. She has served as Staff Counsel for St. Paul Insurance Company, Chicago, Illinois, defending insureds in medical malpractice, products liability, construction, premises, transportation, insurance coverage, commercial and other litigation. She has been involved in all aspects of case management and preparation, alternative dispute mediation, structured settlements and trial work. In medical malpractice litigation, she defends individual physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers. She has done all aspects of case management and preparation, alternative dispute mediation, structured settlements, trials, and she served as an Arbitrator for the Circuit Court of Cook County Mandatory Arbitration program. |
| Honors, Education, and Activities: Ms. Jacobs received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1982. She also has earned degrees from Indiana University, M.A., 1972 and B.A, 1968. |
