Barry Locke focuses his practice on family law matters, including adoption, contested and uncontested divorce, child support modification, custody, visitation, parentage, property distribution, maintenance, estate planning and probate. As a seasoned trial attorney and skillful negotiator, Mr. Locke has successfully resolved thousands of cases in Cook and the collar counties. Mr. Locke has also been appointed by the courts on several occasions to represent children whose parents are disputing custody or visitation.

Experience: Disputed family law matters are often as emotionally trying as they are complex. Mr. Locke draws on years of experience in resolving these matters always attentive to the emotional, and financial needs of his clients, especially when support or parental rights are at issue. As Guardian ad Litem or as a Child's Representative, Mr. Locke works one on one with children and parents and on behalf of the interests of the children to help all involved cope with the challenges of litigation. Mr. Locke has a reputation for fairness, honesty, and skill. Because of his background in business, he is often retained not only by clients but also by other attorneys as co-counsel to help evaluate cases involving complex assets or significant property holdings. In addition to the practice of family law, Mr. Locke is available to assist clients in establishing their estates so that the future interests of loved ones may be protected as well. Mr. Locke has also successfully litigated cases before the Illinois Appellate Court on several occasions. Mr. Locke frequently lectures to the legal profession and to the community on developments in family law, its procedures, and techniques. His commitment to the practice has been recognized by local and statewide bar associations, and he has been regularly appointed to evaluate new and continuing candidates for judicial office. Mr. Locke has served on the Board of Directors for the Cook County Legal Assistance Foundation and regularly assists with the Domestic Relations Division's Court Facilitator Program.

Honors, Education, and Activities: Mr. Locke has a Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School, Chicago (1991); and both an M.B.A. and a B.B.A. from Temple University, Philadelphia, (B.B.A., 1970; M.B.A., 1976), where, as an undergraduate, he was a recipient of the Joseph H. Boettner Scholarship. Mr. Locke is admitted to the Supreme Court of Illinois and is a member of the Chicago Bar, Illinois State Bar, and West Suburban Bar Associations. Mr. Locke is married, has three children and five grandchildren.
