Beatriz Sandoval

Beatriz Sandoval represents individual clients in immigration and citizenship matters, including family-based immigration, naturalization, removal defense, deferred inspections, and asylum.

Experience:

Ms. Sandoval has represented clients in a broad range of immigration matters before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the U.S. Department of State, and numerous U.S. consular posts worldwide.  Prior to joining Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd., Ms. Sandoval practiced with a law firm in Bensenville, Illinois where she represented individuals in family-based immigration and asylum matters, as well as in criminal, real estate and other legal matters.

Honors, Education, and Activities:

Ms. Sandoval received her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 2005, and her B.A. from Washington University in 2002 in English Literature/Spanish Language.  During law school, Ms. Sandoval was a summer intern with the Illinois Migrant Legal Assistance Project (with the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago), providing legal assistance and outreach to migrant farm workers in Carbondale and Southern Illinois.  She also held a summer clerkship at the Executive Office for Immigration Review, in Chicago, Illinois, where she engaged in various research projects and drafted judicial decisions on immigration and asylum cases.  In addition, Ms. Sandoval participated in DePaul's Human Rights Practicum in Chiapas, Mexico, where she worked with local non-governmental organizations on political, cultural and socio-economic conflicts affecting Chiapas.  She was also Vice-President of the Latino Law Student Association in 2005, and participated in the Street Law Program, the DePaul Immigration Clinic, and the Hispanic National Moot Court Competition.

Ms. Sandoval is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and Hispanic Lawyer Association of Illinois.  She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association ("CBA").  Ms. Sandoval is fluent in Spanish.
