Last week, United States District Judge April Perry granted final approval to a $5.25 million settlement in a federal lawsuit involving a class of over-the-road truck drivers who brought claims against a motor carrier, Nova Lines, Inc., for breach of contract and violations of the federal Truth in Leasing Act. The truck drivers alleged that they signed contracts to haul loads for Nova Lines and that the company charged them too much for the price of fuel and made other pay deductions that were not permitted by their contracts. The class includes over 2,600 truck drivers who have worked for Nova Lines since 2015. The drivers were represented in the lawsuit by HSPRD attorneys Christopher Wilmes and Charlie Wysong. Our firm currently represents hundreds of truck drivers in pending cases against other motor carriers.
