In October 2025, Governor J.B. Pritzker created an independent board known as the Illinois Accountability Commission, which will document alleged abuses by federal immigration-enforcement agents working in Illinois. HSPRD’s own Matthew J. Piers will serve as Special Counsel to the Commission.
Matthew J. Piers has served as an attorney at HSPRD for over 25 years. His work involves cutting edge litigation in a variety of areas including wrongful death and serious injury, constitutional, civil liberties, consumer protection, and employment and housing discrimination claims.
